history purpose & vision statement of faith

Butch and Karen and three of their five children (Jarrod, Seth, & Darren) make their primary dwelling in Warren, Oregon. Cassidy, the Brock's only daughter, was married to Andrew Harper in Vancouver, Washington on July 16th of this year. Andrew is in the US Army and they are currently stationed at Ft. Stewart, Georgia. Weston, their oldest son, married Jenny (Walley) in August 2005, in North Carolina, and they now live in Scappoose, Oregon.

Butch is a businessman, owning and operating Wax Specialties, Inc. in Longview, Washington. Karen is his beautiful wife of 32 years and homeschooling mother of their children (down to two in the schoolroom, now). Jarrod is pursuing a Bible degree as well as working on a construction crew. Seth is taking Bible college classes online, and Darren is just beginning his sophomore year.

Weston and Jenny have just celebrated their first anniversary. We can't believe how quickly the time has gone! Weston has his Master's degree in Ministry, and is working at Wax Specialties as the "executive assistant" for Butch. Jenny is assisting her father long-distance as a sales rep for his flooring company. She is adjusting to life in the Pacific Northwest and has quickly become a necessary and much loved part of the Brock family and Bridgeway!

Andrew and Cassidy have been married almost a month! Cassidy is adjusting rapidly to life in Georgia and life with the Army. They are so entirely grateful for God's work and God's timing...and are loving their new life together!

history

In January of 1985, Butch and his wife, Karen, took an "exploratory" trip to Sonora, Mexico, which is directly south of Phoenix, Arizona. They traveled with their former pastor, who had been ministering to several churches in Mexico for a couple of years. Butch and Karen had never been out of the country before, so this experience was all very new to them. Two years later, they traveled again, this time with their children. Two other families joined them as they played music, performed puppet plays, and showed the Youth for Christ "Jesus" film. They took these two- to three-week trips once a year, sometimes twice a year, for the next eight years. As their family grew, they continued going to Mexico under "Net Works Ministries", even taking their fifth child when he was only six weeks old.

In 1996, Butch, Karen, and their family traveled to a part of Mexico that was new to them: Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, just south of Laredo, Texas. It was here in Monterrey that the Brocks met and became fast friends with Sr. Alfredo De  Hoyos and his lovely family. God has allowed a special bond to grow between the Brocks and De Hoyos. The De Hoyos family are pioneers in the faith as they consistently minister to their people.

For the next several years, Butch and his family organized and led teams to Monterrey from their own fellowship, North Country Church, in Battle Ground, Washington. It wasn't long before Butch began receiving requests from other organizations to teach other families and individuals how to prepare for and take short term missions trips to Mexico.

This was the birth of Bridgeway Ministries, Incorporated. In the spring of 2002, Bridgeway became a 501(c)(3), IRS-recognized, faith-based, non-profit corporation, headquarted in Longview, Washington.

It has been 21 years since their first experience south of the border. Every year since then, Butch has taken his family back to the country they love, their second home. Lord willing, the Brock family will continue their work with Bridgeway Ministries for many years to come, in whatever way God continues to lead.

"I find no greater joy than to minister for Jesus with my family. What a blessing! Thank you for visiting us, and if you have questions or comments, please don't hesitate to contact me." -- Butch Brock

purpose & vision

Bridgeway Ministries, a faith-based, non-profit, charitable organization, was formed in 2002 for the purpose of strengthening families through short-term mission trips to Mexico where they provide modest housing and shelter to under-privileged Mexican families.

Bridgeway has organized over 250 volunteers from the United States to travel to Hualahuises, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, where they have given a helping hand to over 3,500 citizens. Bridgeway utilizes a very simple method of serving: they match resources to needs. Bridgeway seeks to serve the poor, elderly, handicapped, and ailing.

The main purpose of Bridgeway Ministries is to further the Kingdom of Heaven in whatever ways the Lord leads.

statement of faith

Bridgeway Ministries, Inc.
2002-2006

1. We believe in the One True and Living God, Who, by His sovereign will and for His eternal glory, exists in three co-equal and co-eternal Persons, each with distinct personalities, but of one essence.

I John 5:7
II Corinthians 13:14

God the Father -
We believe that God, as Father, reigns over all of His universe with providential care. He is all-powerful, all-loving, all-knowing, and all-wise. He is fatherly in attitude toward all men, but is Father, indeed, to those who have become His children through Jesus Christ, Who will deliver them into the Father’s hands.

Matthew 6:9
I Corinthians 8:6

God the Son -
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became Man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin and lived a sinless life, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man. He accomplished this redemption by voluntarily giving Himself as a sinless, perfect Sacrifice on the Cross, thereby satisfying God’s righteous judgment against sin. After substantiating the accomplishment of that redemption and justification by His bodily resurrection from the grave, He ascended to the right hand of His Father, where He intercedes on behalf of those who trust Him. One day He will return.

Luke 1:34-35
Romans 3:24-26

God the Holy Spirit -
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Divine Person Who convicts the world of sin (righteousness and judgment); that He alone brings new life to those who are spiritually dead; that He baptizes (or places) all believers into the one true Church, which is the Body of Christ; that He indwells them permanently, seals them unto the day of final redemption, bestows spiritual gifts upon them, and fills (controls) those who are yielded to Him for effective service. Every believer is called to live in the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit so that he will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh, but will bear fruit to the glory of God.

John 14:16-17
I Corinthians 12:7-11

2. We believe that the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God and the ultimate authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

Exodus 32:16
II Peter 1:16-21

3. We believe that salvation is only through the free gift of God’s grace through faith, without any works on our part, and that those who trust in Jesus alone for their salvation are to be baptized in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit as an outward confession of this faith.

Romans 10:13-17
Mark 16:16

4. We believe that all those who put their faith in the Lord Jesus for salvation are born again by the Spirit of God and make up the universal church, which is also defined as the Body of Christ and the Household of Faith.

John 3:3
Ephesians 2:18-19

5. We believe that all who call upon the Name of the Lord for salvation shall be saved and that believers in Jesus as the Christ are commanded to go and make disciples of all nations.

Acts 2:21
Romans 10:9-13

6. We believe in the imminent and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the final events of history, which are recorded in Scripture, including the rewards of everlasting life and the torments of a literal hell.

Daniel 12:1-3
II Peter 3:10
